Pilkey-Hopping & Ekberg Inc. has announced the election of Reid Ekberg as President effective September 1, 2015. Reid has been with the firm since 2008, serving most recently as Vice President and Commercial Department Manager. He began his insurance career as a claims adjuster with Safeco in Seattle. Reid is a fourth generation insurance agent as his Great-Grandfather, Frank Ekberg, started Frank Ekberg & Co in Tacoma in 1896, and his Great-Great-Grandfather W. P. Hopping founded Hopping Insurance in 1902, also in Tacoma. Steve Ekberg, the retiring president will remain with the firm as an associate and a member of the board. Reid, his wife Carrianne and their daughter Cora live in Gig Harbor, where he currently serves as Chairman of the Gig Harbor Planning Commission. Reid was recently honored by the Business Examiner in their 40 under Forty Award .
